Logistics

Dear couriers, shift supervisors in warehouse logistics, sales representatives, warehouse assistants, customer service representatives, logistics consultants, office employees, crane operators, freight forwarding and logistics merchants, IT software architects and dispatchers: more than 180,000 colleagues work in the logistics sector in the Berlin-Brandenburg region – a region which is constantly growing as a metropolitan area and requires long-lasting logistics solutions.

When we talk about logistics, we are referring to the professions in warehousing and handling, transport and supply, commercial management as well as the areas of parking facility management, port, container and rail logistics, monitoring and control, inventory management, online trade, software development for vehicle tracking and route planning, not to mention the classic industrial trade and knowledge/technology transfer.

Jobs in Berlin-Brandenburg can be found, for example, at the five major goods centers, such as GVZ Westhafen, the Berlin airports, the Berlin ports and companies such as DB Schenker, Zapf, PLT Software, Dachser, BEHALA, Colossus Logistics, eCOM Logistics, Amazon, Interautomation Deutschland GmbH, IPG Infrastruktur- und Projektentwicklungsgesellschaft or the ITB Industrietransportgesellschaft. In addition, scientists and researchers in the industry can find jobs at Berlin universities and extramural research institutes such as the Technical University of Berlin (TU), the Berlin School of Economics and Law or the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics (IML).

Salaries are generally based on your professional experience and depend on each company. On average, couriers, warehouse personnel and logistics managers earn about 24,000 euros gross per year, and a crane operator about 30,000 euros per year. Since logistics is an industry that never sleeps and your availability is often needed 24 hours round the clock, workers usually work in shifts. In this case, you can expect additional payments in the form of shift bonuses. Depending on the area, the wage may also be determined by collective agreements. Start your job search! It’s worth it.
