The industry benefits from close ties between business and research: Fast technology transfer makes possible rapid transformation of research results into competitive products. In Berlin and Brandenburg there are six large technology parks focused on the life sciences. There are also medical technology companies doing research and making products.

Salaries are always based upon professional experience and vary by company. If you work in a Berlin hospital or some other public institution, then your salary is based on collective bargaining agreements. A precision engineering technician, for example, earns a starting salary of about 25,000 euros gross, while a medical technology laboratory assistant earns around 30,000 euros. In technical customer service, you can expect a salary between 35,000 and 45,000 euros, depending on experience. It can generally be said that medical technology jobs requiring a high degree of personal responsibility and many years of professional experience have top salaries of up to 100,000 euros.
